English translation of #Comrade P. Govinda Pillai’s political biography of former #CPIM General Secretary Comrade E.M.S. Namboodiripad, published by LeftWord Books has been awarded this year’s prestigious Muzaffar Ahmed Prize. Instituted by the Muzaffar Ahmed Smriti Puraskar Committee of Kolkata in memory of the legendary leader of the Communist movement in India, Muzaffar Ahmed (1889–1973). On August 5, an event will be organized at Mahajati Sadan to felicitate the selected books.
The chairman of the award committee, Communist Party of India (Marxist) Polit Bureau member Sridip Bhattacharya said that this year, books covering a wide range of topics were submitted, Writers from West Bengal as well as from other parts of India submitted many notable works written in Bengali and other languages. Among them, based on contemporary relevance and critical thought, the books were selected.
